Lindenbachstrasse Underground Parking
LEO Consulting was commissioned to carry out a detailed assessment of the punching shear safety of the slab above the underground parking garage. A previous investigation had recommended a more in-depth evaluation of selected edge and corner columns, as well as one wall end. The scope of the project therefore focused on the analytical assessment of these specific areas.
The project began with a review of the available drawings and structural documentation. In addition, a site inspection of the underground parking garage was carried out, with particular attention given to the relevant columns and wall sections. The results of previous material investigations were also considered, including concrete core tests used to determine the concrete strength.
Based on this information, punching shear verifications were performed for selected edge columns, corner columns and one wall end. Representative column types were assessed directly, and the findings were subsequently transferred to comparable structural elements.
The project illustrates a common approach to the assessment and targeted re-analysis of existing structures. In many cases, specific details can be investigated when previous assessments indicate that a more detailed evaluation is warranted. In the case of punching shear, the load-bearing capacity often depends on a small number of clearly identifiable locations. A focused detailed assessment can therefore provide clarity quickly and establish a sound basis for possible next steps.
