Badi Talegg
The Badi Talegg swimming facility in Embrach was assessed with regard to its global seismic safety. The complex comprises several functional units, including an indoor swimming pool, a kiosk, changing rooms, a sauna, and an extension added at a later stage.
The assessment was based on an existing structural model. To evaluate the seismic behaviour, a nonlinear macroelement model was developed in 3Muri and analysed using pushover analysis.
To gain a better understanding of the structural behaviour of the facility, several modelling scenarios were investigated. The individual building sections were modelled both separately and as an integrated structural system.
The project illustrates a common challenge encountered in existing facilities that have been expanded in multiple construction phases. Even small assumptions regarding whether building sections are structurally connected can significantly influence the global seismic behaviour.
