As part of the continuing education programme CAS “Seismic Safety of Existing Buildings” at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Dr Safak Arslantürkoglu delivered a half-day teaching module on the nonlinear modelling of masonry buildings – a key topic for the realistic assessment of structural behaviour under seismic loading.
The focus was on the principles of consistent modeling, plausibility checks of numerical results, and the validation of compliance factors through simple manual calculations. The goal was to equip participants with practical tools for a well- founded and critical approach to nonlinear models.
Our sincere thanks go to Prof. Dr. Baur and Dr. Weber for the excellent organization — as well as to all participants for their active interest and engaging discussions.
