Professional Engagement and Knowledge Sharing

LEO Consulting is actively involved in professional committees, standards development and continuing education programmes. These activities foster a continuous exchange between research, standards development and engineering practice and are directly reflected in our work on existing structures.

Dr Safak Arslantürkoglu is involved in standards development in the field of masonry structures. He chairs the working group responsible for the Swiss National Annex to Eurocode 6 (EN 1996) (Parts 1-1, 1-2 and 2) and is a member of the SIA 266 masonry standards committee.

In addition, he serves as lead lecturer and programme coordinator of the continuing education programme CAS ETH in Seismic Evaluation and Retrofitting (CAS ETH SER) at ETH Zurich. This part-time programme is aimed at structural and civil engineers and provides up-to-date methods for the seismic assessment and retrofitting of existing structures, with a particular focus on practical applications in the Swiss context.

The team at LEO Consulting is also actively involved in research and standards development. Dr Yunus Emre Harmanci is a research scientist at Empa and a member of the SIA 166 working group on externally bonded reinforcements.
